“Love Radio” a "PopCap Winner”

The subjects I choose seem airy, but they often have a heavy, grim undertone. My interest is in places where fiction fulfills an important symbolic role. In my imagery I find this double standard too. I wanted to go to Iran for a long-term project. There I met in 2003 Eefje, who temporarily lived in the country and was working on her thesis. She helped me while shooting. Together, we spoke to people on the street, and built a studio around them. My gaze is poetic and evocative, while Eefjes writing style is sober and accurate journalism. That is a nice counterbalance.
