Born in 1952 in Addis Ababa, Endalkachew Tesfa completed his primary education in Ethiopia and his secondary education in the US. He developed interest in photography while studying communications at the Montgomery Community College. Later he concentrated in photography at the Corcoran School of Art in Washington, D.C., and specialized in commercial photography in his classes at the US Department of Agriculture. Endalkachew and his partner Andarge Asfaw established F/Stop studio in Silver Springs, MD, and worked with companies like Black & Decker, Mobil and other major companies,. Endalkachew worked at and managed a major retail studios in the Washington DC area, Philadelphia, and Delaware, before moving back to Ethiopia. Endalkachew has exhibitied at the Smithsonian Institute and other venues. He currently works in a family printing and publishing business and has been the General manager for the past 13 years.
