Govinda’s Govinda
I am currently developing a story which is called “The Musician” which I want to present in a long-term manner. The story is based on a person who is a musician living in an area called Old Dhaka. Old Dhaka has a long historical and cultural value and different cultural activities are very prominent here. Here, music and musicians have a very unique style. Govinda Das is a musician who was born and brought up in old Dhaka and spent most of his life here practicing and exploring music. Moreover, this place has a huge influence on him, his lifestyle and his musical world. Old Dhaka somehow shaped him in every way in terms of his mental, physical, and metaphysical boundary. The idea of my story is to experience and express how the life of a musician flows in this historical and old space along with other surrounding factors in order to identify the identity and existence of the person. I also aim to investigate how this space is both shaping and accommodating this person while changing its pattern. I want to tell this story which will relate the musician with this organic place and also how the musician perceives this space. To sum up, I see this story as a documentation of historical space which is called Old Dhaka and the musician Govinda Das is the messenger who lives in the fascinating world of music. This story is about his life and the historical place to which he belongs.
