Abinet Teshome is a 21-year-old self-taught photographer based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Abinet’s preferred style is street photography. He finds street life captivating; he focuses on light and shadow, lines and patterns, color matching, and portraits of people. Abinet likes to interact with people and to tell their stories. He believes everyone and every society has stories to be told. Where he comes from, there are plenty of stories to be told. There are virtues that need to be magnified, heroes that ought to be glorified, truths that should be seen. He believes photography is the best medium to share such stories.
Street of Piassa
Abinet’s collection is a series of photos from the streets of Piassa, one of the oldest places in Addis Ababa. The photos are about people’s activities on the street in this area. Another important aspect of this series is that they are all candid shots. Abinet made sure to capture the relationship between the background and the subject in his photos.
