Francis Falceto Biography
Francis Falceto has been a researcher of Ethiopia since 1985. He curated Abyssinie Swing: A pictorial history of modern Ethiopian music (Shama Books, Addis Ababa, 2001). Falceto also produced éthiopiques and ethioSonic CD series (30 + 10 vol.) and translated Sebhat Guebre-Egziabher, Les Nuits d’Addis Abeba (Actes-Sud, 2004). He won the BBC World Music Award in 2008 and the World Music Expo Award for Professional Excellence in 2011. Most of all, Falceto is an avid fan of Ethio jazz and a collector of archival photographs from the 50s, 60s and 70s music scene in Ethiopia.
